Paywell Home Page Technical Structure
In essence Paywell is a data repository which has been designed specifically to Paywell to meet the needs of sophisticated payroll and personnel systems.
The data repository uses data dictionary techniques, which means that the pay clerks who use the system see and work with the terminology that they are accustomed to.
Paywell is in fact an application development language, which uses very powerful parameters, which are used to construct simple or extremely complex custom designed payrolls.
Parameters are load-and-go which gives Paywell its versatility and flexibility. As parameters are easy and quick to use, changes are easy to make and errors are easy to find.
All users have identical sets of object programs.
In concept Paywell can be compared to a spreadsheet such as Excel. Excel uses one set of base code (the Excel program) but each spreadsheet is designed by entering data and using Excel macros. In the Paywell context, this technique is used to create payrolls.
Customised payrolls can be developed in 8 to 24 hours. Otherwise, payrolls can be pre-fixed for relatively simple salaries or wages and amendments can be made to these parameters and dictionaries as required.
Paywell is a multi-user system. This allows simultaneous access to Payroll/Personnel Files by more than one operator/screen. Record locking and function locking are fully controlled so that file integrity is maintained.
Up to 950 earning and deduction codes can be defined, however we have seldom had a requirement to go beyond 500 codes in even the most complex of payrolls. There are other storage areas such as Registers, Tables and Indicators which expand the total storage capacity of Paywell.
All of the Paywell Report Writers can output a text file (ASCII file). This can be used to interface to other systems.
